Dark Forest Safari
Join our guides as we leave the regular hiking trails behind and head into the Småland forest after dark. With headlamps as our only source of light, we follow smaller trails through the forest to specially selected places where the darkness truly takes over.
During the safari, we experience the forest in a completely different way than during the day. We search for tracks, mushrooms, wildlife and whatever else nature has to offer that evening. During blueberry season, we stop to pick and taste wild blueberries straight from the forest.
At one of the darkest places in the forest, we switch off all our headlamps. Total darkness. No lights. Just the forest around us.
We stand still and silent, allowing our eyes to adjust to the darkness and discovering how much more we begin to hear when sight no longer dominates our senses.
On a safe section of the route, we also try moving a short distance without our headlamps. The adventure then continues through the darkness towards Little Rock Lake.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Dark Forest Safari a scary experience??
No, absolutely not!
Dark Forest Safari is not about horror or creating an uncomfortable feeling. These are genuine nature and adventure experiences that take place after dark. Darkness changes the experience and makes us perceive nature, our surroundings and our senses in a completely different way.
Is it completely dark?
At Base Camp, the evening lights are on, but as soon as we leave, the dark forest awaits.
Headlamps and other necessary equipment are used throughout the adventure.
Do I need to bring my own headlamp?
No. Headlamps and any special equipment required for the activity are provided by us.
Can I participate if I’m afraid of the dark?
That depends on how you personally experience darkness. The activities are not designed to scare you and there are no surprise elements or horror effects.
However, we are genuinely out in nature after dark, which naturally feels very different from experiencing the same environment during the day.
